We summited Everest 8,848 metres (29,029 ft) Thursday 23rd May 2019 at 12.35am (BST) for the Matt Hampson Foundation.

Summit night and back to camp took c.15 hrs. Total from Advanced Base Camp c.35hrs. Storms ripped through tents at high camp, climber congestion at step two, and sadly deaths, made for a torrid and difficult night.

However we were brilliantly guided by Sean James and Lhakpa Wongchu Sherpa, ensuring safe passage for our team. Due to the low air pressure we only had a very tight summit window, hence the c.300 climber congestion. Very tough conditions made for a rather unpleasant time but that’s the risk of Everest.

Lead sponsor was Caring Homes Group. Expedition partners included Avery Healthcare Group, Hadrian Healthcare, Maria Mallaband, Porthaven, BondCare and Runwood Homes. Donations were raised for The Matt Hampson Foundation, Bliss, Great Ormond Street Hospital, Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Water for Kids, LandAid and the Seb Coe Charitable Foundation.
